I just buy gallons at a time and put the gallon jugs in the freezer.
If we are low on the current jug of milk I put one of the frozen jugs in
the sink at night and by morning it is thawed pretty much completely. I
just shake it up a bit because the milk separates a bit and it helps
break up the remaining frozen crystals and pour. The only problem I
have every had is that every now and then one of the jugs splits in the
freezing process and I find that out as it is thawing. I then just pour
the milk into a Rubbermaid pitcher and use it for that particular jug.
We go through so much milk so fast it is great to have a few gallons in
the freezer to pull out and not be running to the store all the time!
Besides I can catch it on good sales this way too!
