My favorite easy frozen dessert is homemade ice cream cake.
Ingredients:
1 package chocolate sandwich cookies (like Oreos)
1 half gallon of ice cream
1 can Hershey's syrup
1 container of Cool Whip or other brand whipped topping
Get out a 9x 12 pan (or 11X 13) Spray Pam on the bottom. Crush 1 package
of cookies and spread in the bottom of pan. Spread 1 half gallon of
ice cream or frozen yogurt over the top of the cookies. (you may
need to kinda glop spoonfuls of ice cream all over the top and use a
knife to spread them together. DO NOT let the ice cream get too
soft or you will have a yucky mess.) Now pour a can of Hershey's Syrup
all over the ice cream. Cover and put in freezer. A few hours later
carefully glop one container of whipped topping over the
chocolate syrup. (Using the same method as the ice cream) Spread carefully
to avoid mixing the syrup and topping together. and re-cover and
refreeze.
That's it. You can throw the cake together in the morning. Add the
whipped
topping at lunch and serve with dinner and I guarantee rave reviews.
You can vary the ice cream flavors and cookies from ones that go
with chocolate sauce to ones that are fruity and use a strawberry syrup or
strawberry jam thinned with water or butterscotch type syrup. Vanilla
sandwich cookies go well with those options.
