I freeze them drained. Not dry like I laid them on a towel and made sure they were completely dry, but drained of the cooking liquid. I've never had an issue with them being dried out. I use them mostly in soups and stews but occasionally in other things too. Chickpeas I've never tried - I mostly do pinto and black beans since that's what we use the most of.

When you freeze the cooked beans, do you freeze them dry or with the cooking water? I would think if you didn't include the cooking water they would dry out again.
I recently cooked up a whole package of chickpeas and wasn't quite sure how best to package the ones for later.
