I use a permanent marker to note the date I froze the milk right next to the
'use by' date on the carton. Once I pull it out of the freezer I figure I have
the number of days between those 2 dates plus another week. You can also mark
your new 'use by' date right on the carton when you pull it out of the freezer.
Also, please don't thaw out of the refrigerator. Several days ago, someone
mentioned doing that and that is really taking a chance with your family's
health. While the center of the jug may still be thawing, the milk on the outer
portion of the jug can reach temps warm enough to allow disease organisms to
grow. Just because it feels cool to the touch doesn't mean it is cool enough to
prevent their growth. Please play it safe and thaw in the refrigerator.

How long does milk "keep" once it has thawed?
