Meat can be defrosted in warm water in the later afternoon. Change the water a few times if you are really in a rush. This is why I try and prepare my meats before freezing them; in other words, if its ground beef, fry and season it, THEN freeze it. Then just pop it in the microwave or defrost it in the pan you'll cook it in over heat. Or if its stew meat, cut and brown with onions then freeze. or shish kebob meat, cut it up and freeze it in the marinade ready to defrost pretty quickly because its smaller pieces.

But lots of time I forget and am not that well organized. I have lots of good stored meat in my freezer right now but then I can't use when I want to try a new recipe. I end up having to run to the store to buy a package of meat to cook with. It gets frustrating!
