Background: I grew up with my mom's stovetop Presto PC making many delicious meals, especially the stewed beef that I loved. About 4 years ago I got a stovetop Presto (stainless 4 qt) for my own use and I joined the Yahoo Group for Pressure Cookers. There were lots of helpful folks on that group and some good recipes, but many members used electric cookers. It seemed to me that they had a lot more "issues" with their cookers than those of us that had stovetop models. Things like fuses and re-setting problems that never happen with stovetop cookers.
Now: I love to use my pressure cooker, still looking for a stewed beef recipes like my mom's (she doesn't remember what she did), I make my little dog's food, cook brown rice to freeze, make lots of soup, etc. I do wish that I had bought a 6 qt. Presto, just to be able to make larger amounts to freeze. Maybe one of these days.....
The stovetop models are so easy to clean, take less time to heat up and to cook, IMO, and don't have fuses or parts to deal with, and maybe take up less room in a cabinet. I do know at least one friend that has 2 stovetop cookers and an electric cooker - but I don't have that kind of money or storage space! I am 100% in favor of the stovetop cookers.
