Here's a sloppy Joe recipe i just discovered and love... original recipe came from allrecipes.com... but i've altered it some to meet out families needs...
1 lb ground beef, browned
1 lb ground venison, browned (i browned them seperate last time and browned the venison in 2 TBS butter, then combined them) (if you don't like ground venison just use 2 lbs ground beef or use one and 1/2 the other ingredients)
1 small onion
1/2 green pepper
1 celery stalk
1 med carrot
1 can tomato soup + 2 TBS water
3/4 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp worcestershire sauce
salt/pepper to taste
(1 Tbs shredded cheddar cheese to garnish each sloppy joe at serving time)
I brown meat, add onion, bell pepper, celery and carrot and cook until veggies are tender, then add tomato soup, water, cumin, worcestershire sauce and s/p stir and simmer until hot.
If seving right away, dish 1/4 cup onto each bun and top with 1 TBS shredded cheese on each bun.
To freeze, once cooled, i measured out the desired amount (1/4 cup = 1 serving) into freezer bags. To heat up again later, i peeled the freezer bag away from the meat and dropped it into a slow cooker on low until heated through, stirring occasionally... this took me about 1- 1 1/2 hours. DELICIOUS! :) AND my kids didn't even know there were veggies in it until i told them! :)
